Religion of Peace

Islam claims to be a religion of peace. Christianity also claims to be a religion of peace. And history is rife with people who claimed to be followers of Christ or Mohammed while killing and plundering. The Crusaders and the Jihadists serve as examples.

But were they truly following their masters?

Christ preached peace and love for the enemy, repeatedly refused to lead a rebellion against the Romans, received much violence but inflicted none, choosing instead to give His life on the cross to save us.

Mohammed, on the other hand, was a brilliant militarist. Unable to trade in his adopted farming community of Medina, he took up plundering passing caravans, deemed to be an acceptable economic activity back then, and won improbable battles, eventually winning the surrender of his native Mecca.

So when self-declared Christians kill and plunder, they are NOT following their master. But when Muslims kill and plunder, they are.

Christianity started and grew by the power of Christ’s love. By contrast, Islam started and grew by the power of Mohammed’s sword. Christian martyrs give their lives to save others. By contrast, Islamic martyrs give their lives to kill others.

While Islam in some regions of the world may present itself as a religion of peace, at it origin and core, it isn’t.
