SHARIA LAW

Sharia is the law of Islam, and Sharia law makes distributing or owning Bibles, evangelizing, becoming or simply being Christian serious crimes.

The nation that most strictly applies Sharia law today is Saudi Arabia, where Islam was born, where 2 million Muslim pilgrims gather every year for Hajj at Mecca, whose oil profits fund mosques and madrasas around the world, and where Sharia law is the de facto Constitution.

Smuggling Bibles into Saudi Arabia faces three major obstacles. First, Saudi Arabia doesn't issue tourist visas to non-Muslims.

Second, there are very few Christians to receive the Bibles. Most of the 'Christians' in Saudi Arabia are Philippino Catholic guest workers there to make money, with little interest in evangelizing, while the few Saudi believers remain underground and keep to themselves to avoid detection.

Third, Saudi Arabia is blanketed by Muttaween, the religious police that seeks out and apprehends Sharia law violators, including Christians, to be flogged, tortured, imprisoned and/or killed. Being a foreigner provides little protection in Saudi Arabia, which every year executes more foreigners than its own citizens.

In "moderate" Islamic nations like Turkey, Sharia is enforced by its adherents, who beat, kidnap and kill converts to Christianity, especially members of their own family while the government turns a blind eye. Those who import, print and/or distribute Bibles are threatened, beaten, bombed and/or killed by mobs and criminals, who are rarely arrested or prosecuted.

But the nations where the Sharia law is making the greatest gains are in Western Europe.
