Bibles Unbound

One of the ways that Bibles reach China’s underground church today is through Bibles Unbound. Operated by Voice of the Martyrs, Bibles Unbound allows Christians in the West to pay $30 to mail 5 Chinese New Testaments to an underground house church Christian in China.

Bibles Unbound's New Testaments are printed clandestinely inside China by the underground house church Christians, smuggled out of China and sent across the world so that they can then be mailed back to other underground house church Christians inside China.

Bibles Unbound - Advantages

Bibles Unbound makes it easy for the senders to participate in Bible smuggling and therefore expands their base, raises awareness and generates revenues for Voice of the Martyrs’ other ministries.

Bibles Unbound - Disadvantages

Printing New Testaments inside China and then smuggling them out, shipping them half way around the world so that they can be shipped back by mail, which are customs-controlled, bears avoidable risks for the underground Chinese Christians who print and smuggle out these New Testaments.

It is also inefficient, as demonstrated by its price tag. If $30 were sent to China's underground house church Christians, they can buy 70-90 copies of the Amity New Testament at a Three Self church bookstore instead of receiving 5 copies by mail.
